Default Touch necro build, any thoughts?

if you have a decent monk in RA this build can do really well, does huge damage and has some decent self healing ability (you'll need it! )

Wallows Bite
Touch of Agony
Dark Pact
Taste of Pain
Strip Enchantment
Vamp Spirit {e}
Dark Aura
Rez Signet (or consume corspe in ABs)

Pros: colossal damage on a stationary target such as a warrior attacking you. Casters generally don't start kiting till it's too late, you can go n/w and hamstring or /e or /a for your snares though, caltrops works ok. On bunched up tagets you can do crazy AoE with dark aura whilst killing another target. strip important enchantments for health.

Cons: You Sac a lot and sac hard. but after many battles in AB/RA 1v1 this build will own faster than anything can own you, and taste of pain+vamp spirit keep you in the fight. Will loose Vs a competant touch ranger >_<. Also hard on energy, but the fight should be over soon. Relies on suprise, if they know what you're about to unleash they run and you're gimped.

Attribs 12+1+1 blood, 12+1 death, 6 Sr, rest rune of attunes/sup vig.

first 4 attacks

WB: 55 47 41 = 143
ToA:55 47 41 = 143
DP : 45 47 41 = 133
ToP: 47 (and 126+47 self heal)

that's 466 damage 1v1, in about 3 seconds with some self healing thrown in, and you can begin the attack again right away.

any thoughts and that welcome, i don't normally play necro.

Before I begin, I wish to make sure I have everything correct.

Wallow's Bite - 5 e, 3 recast sac 10%, does 20-50 shadow dmg and is a skill

Dark Pact - 5 e, 2 recast sac 10%, does 10-40 shadow dmg and is a spell

Touch of Agony - see Wallow's Bite

Dark Aura - 10 e, 10 recast 5-41 damage to adjacent foes when target ally sacs and this is an enchantment

Vampiric Spirit (e) - 5 e, 5 recast spells cost 3 more energy but you steal 5-41 from 1 nearby foe

Taste of Pain - 5 e, 10 recast and is a spell; regains 30-126 health if target foe is below 50% max health

Strip Enchantment - 10 e, 20 recast and is a spell; remove 1 enchantment from foe and gain 30-102 health

The damage you do will be great (when you are in melee range). However, it is very costly as your touches are not affected by VS, but DP, DA, ToP and SE are. So if there are no enchantments on your target, SE is useless, and DP will cost you 8 per cast. You may find yourself running out of energy quickly.

A Curse Necro, Mezmer or an Assassin can kill you quickly. SS Necro, Health degen Mesmer/Domination Mesmer can drop you quicker than you think. Assassin spike (which is normally used) will remove your health so fast that your own sac will kill you before you realize it.

Be thankful I don't think any monk uses Scourge Sacrifice.

Aura of the Lich will be more usefull to you, as it reduces the amount of sac damage.

Or you can use Grenth's Balance - This will help you regain more health and deal damage to your enemy (assuming you have less health then your target - another good thing is to target a fresh foe and cast it. Removes a good portion of health from new target and gives that health to you).

Spoil Victor sound interesting. If you are attacked (and you continually sac yourself and you have less health than your target), the target losses health for attacking or casting a spell on a creature with less health then they have).

Ravenous Gaze - Steal health, and if you are still under 50% max health, you steal more health.

Hope this helps.

cheers pick me ^^ of course you're right about that VS thing! doesn't trigger on my two touches, and i have been reading screen damage wrong because the text was so big and foes damage appears the same colour as my own lol

just tired AotL, definately an improvement in longevity, i can now kill two foes pretty fast without killing myself, but it leaves me too vulnerable to degen

shall try SV and GB tonight ^^

Ravenous gaze sounds good for this cos my hp shrinks fast, it would make an ideal finishing blow, alas i've not got NF yet

Here's what I've been using as the basic outline.

Vampiric Spirit [e]
Blood of the Agressor
Dark Pact
Blood Renewal
Signet of Lost Souls.

16 Blood
14 Soul Reaping

Contemplation of Purity is nice, for hex and conditon removal. Then there's a couple dervish skills that benefit if you remove enchants, especially in Wind Prayers.

This works fine in PvE, PvP though, it starts to become an energy problem seeing as there isn't much death. You want to go after melee. Wait till some genius Dervish decides to go running after the necromancer, and then spam like crazy. It's obscene how much damage you do. Infact, I've been having melee kite away from me.

I don't see it going anywhere outside of RA and PvE

Hmmm, I can see some life in this build, keep the quick sacs, use AotL and Demonic Flesh to help against degen, may definatly work, a little risky yes, but with a couple of experiments into a secondary, you may find yourself a great build.
